NOTICE: §173.21 Exemption of Spent Alkaline Dry Cell Batteryes
The United States Department of Transportation requires that dry sealed batteries be prepared and packaged for transport in a manner to prevent a dangerous evolution of heat, short circuits, and damage to terminals. However, an exemption has been granted for alkaline batteries that do not pose a risk for creating sparks or a dangerous quantity of heat.
